I've been wearing Dr. Martens for over 10 years. I own more than 20 pairs of Dr. Martens. Sandals, 3 holes, 8 holes, 10 holes, Chelsea boots (side gore), steel toes, etc. I've worn a variety of shoes, and every time I've worn them, I've had painful blisters. Fighting blisters is the fate of Dr. Martens fans, whether new or used. Introducing how to get used to it and how to deal with each part by symptom.

Taking a bath together with Dr. Martens
Wear Dr. Martens and take a bath together! This is the best. Anyway, it adapts to my feet quickly.
Don't worry about leather being water resistant. Dr. Martens smooth leather doesn't get damaged easily. Smooth leather is the glossy leather used in Dr. Martens standard products. It is called smooth leather because it has a glossy coating during the manufacturing process. As shown in the photo, it often repels water.
In the first place, there are many cases where leather can be washed with water without any problems. It's not the washing that's the problem, it's the post-washing response, such as neglecting post-washing care or drying in the sun. Even if you wash your leather jacket at home, if you take good care of it, it will be beautiful. Reference below.
Keep in mind that Martins and leather jackets cannot be washed with water depending on the type of leather. Also, old Martins and poor storage conditions can cause the sole to peel off when washed with water.

Shoe blisters according to Dr. Martens symptom and site
The problem that cannot be separated from how to get used to it is the blistering problem of Dr. Martens. I listed the blisters of Dr. Martens that I have experienced by symptoms and parts.
First, get the whole thing wet with a shower. Especially the trick is to soften the inner leather properly with hot water.
Can you see the leather getting wet and changing color?
Put on your socks, put on your Doc Martens and get in the hot water. If possible, I want to soak in the bathtub together.
When you take a bath, rub your whole body and move your ankles a little to make the Dr. Martens leather softened by the hot water fit your feet.
Rubbing any blistering areas
If there is a place where the shoe is sore, rub it carefully.
Somehow, the hot water loosens the leather and makes it feel like it fits your feet.
Walking wet
After getting out of the bath, just wipe off as much moisture as possible with a towel and dry it off.
If possible, the leather will get used to it better if you walk outside for a while while it is still wet. Especially I want to get used to the heel and the base of the toes. Both are places where the legs bend and the leather breaks every time you walk. If you don't get used to this area, it's easy to get blisters.
Apply leather cream while drying
After that, it is OK if you dry it so that it does not lose its shape. If possible, apply leather cream when the leather is half dry.
I apply the fan weakly and apply cream when it dries to some extent. Avoid direct sunlight, dry in a well-ventilated shade, and if you carefully apply cream, Dr. Martens will not be damaged even after washing. I feel. Dr. Martens are not such delicate boots (I think).
After soaking in hot water, apply cream from the inside to maintain softness. Use a moisturizing cream to apply on the inside. If you apply wax main cream, it will be sticky and uncomfortable when you wear it. All you have to do is lightly apply Nivea.
The upper surface is coated with smooth leather so that the leather cream does not penetrate much. Wax for mirror finish is effective, but I personally have the impression that luster oil such as mink oil is not compatible with smooth leather. It feels like it doesn't penetrate even if you apply it.
Mowbray's delicate cream is moisturizing and fresh, easy to blend and easy to apply. This cream doesn't give off a lot of shine, but it does make Martin's smooth leather shine with a clean cloth, and it doesn't feel greasy when applied to the inside of the boot.
Let's take a bath for Dr. Martens that are brand new and have blisters!
Honestly, you won't be completely familiar with Dr. Martens in one bath. Especially new. Enjoy Dr. Martens life by doing it multiple times or by using it together with the blisters treatment for each symptom and site described later. After all, the best way to get used to it is to wear it many times even if it hurts.
By the way, I've seen articles about stuffing and stretching newspapers, but I want you to touch your own Dr. Martens. A boot that stretches leather when stuffed with newspaper? I don't think I'll have such a hard time with blisters if I can stretch it with a newspaper.
Though it's not a bad idea to pack something inside. If you put it in, the size like a tennis ball is just right. Let's pack a small ball such as a softball of baseball. However, I personally don't do it often because it can lose its shape and cause blisters in other places.
For Dr. Martens that are not smooth leather like the one in the photo, it is better to treat them with leather cream instead of soaking them in the bath. In other words, in the case of Dr. Martens, which is not smooth leather, the leather should not be so hard, so it often fits in with a little wear.
Before and after Dr. Martens actually took a bath
Dr. Martens 8 hole cherry red which is almost new but purchased second hand. The leather is still stiff and my heels blistered.
I think the firmness of the leather is still visible.
The heels are not wrinkled yet, hard and painful.
This is Dr. Martens after taking a bath. It was good hot water.
before bath
After bath. It looks almost the same, but when you put it on, you can see that it fits your feet quite well. It's frustrating that I can't convey this change in photos. I'm sure I'm familiar with it, but I think that the photo quality is no longer an error at the time of shooting.
Dr. Martens heel before bath.
After bath. There is no change in the appearance of the heel. If I had to say it, it would be that the sharpness of the wrinkles has become softer. The heel part is also softer, making it more comfortable to wear.
