Kurarin Vintage shop guide

A local Japanese vintage clothing lover introduces Japanese vintage shops. I visited second clothing stores in various regions and recommend the best ones.

Euro vintage vintage clothing store “Maison Ma Magnier” opens in Karuizawa

Recommended BEST vintage clothing stores in Karuizawa, Nagano JAPAN

Karuizawa used to be a land with almost no second-hand clothing stores, but a Eurovintage second-hand clothing store “Maison Ma Manie” opened in March 2022.

You can't see it because of the glass reflection, but it's decorated with the French Motorcycle Coat M35. Combined with the white antique appearance, it's really cool.

There are vintage items purchased from Europe, and they also sell antiques such as tableware. The owner is from Karuizawa.

Excellent access along Karuizawa Hondori. No parking.

Euro Vintage has a special selection of military and work items. There are many. Indigo linen rimocks, moleskin, French military motorcycle coats, German trainers, and more. In a town like Karuizawa, where there is no image of second-hand clothing, I was surprised to find such a wonderful selection. There are many vintage items around 10,000 yen to 20,000 yen, but specials start at tens of thousands of yen.

There are also some women's stores, and select brands are also on sale. We also handle current brands such as APC. French and British Euro Levi's are loaded, and it's amazing to have so much. The price range for regular used clothes is around 5,000 to 13,000 yen.

I went to Karuizawa's used clothing store "Hirata Shoten"

It seems that there are almost no used clothing stores in Karuizawa, and I can't find any on the internet. Fashionable general stores and clothing stores pop up all the time, but summer resorts, luxury resorts, and hot spring resorts may not have second-hand clothing stores.

Meanwhile, the only thing I found when I was looking into various things was this "Hirata Shoten".

Close to Naka-Karuizawa Station, the landmark is Lawson at the intersection. As you can see in the picture, it looks pretty impressive, so it's easy to find. One car can be parked in front of the shop. It is also within driving distance from Harunire Terrace and Karuizawa Ginza Shopping Street.

I forgot to take a picture, but it seems that many people think that it is the name of the store because "American casual clothing US" is written on the iron plate leaning against the wall in the premises. If you look closely, the sign says Hirata Shoten. When I looked it up on Instagram, I found it posted on "American Casual Clothing".

It looks pretty dense, so it's hard to get in. Products are lined up in the store, and you can see that it is open.

When I went inside, there was one male clerk. I was able to look at the products freely without being greeted, so it was difficult to get in, but once I got in there was no problem.

Products are mostly repros, reproductions, and dead stocks of military wear from places like Houston, rather than vintage clothing stores. There were a few old clothes, but most of them were military. Prices range from 3,000 to 20,000 yen. There were military surplus items and reprints.

If you dig, you'll find some good current clothes, such as American-made t-shirts. The plain white T-shirt made in USA for 500 yen was a bargain.

The interior of the store, which looks like a warehouse, was an American casual and military shop with an outstanding atmosphere. Leather jackets, pea coats, mods coats, flight jackets, shirts, etc. Almost men's.

Other vintage clothing stores in Karuizawa, military shops, etc.

There are several fashion goods shops along Mikasa-dori, which is a tourist spot.

There are shops along Mikasa-dori that occasionally sell old clothes at low prices.

Military Shop "Silverado"

Silverado near Church Street Karuizawa was a military shop selling surplus items.

Military Shop "Crossroads"

On the north side of Naka-Karuizawa, where Hoshino Resort and Harunire Terrace are located, is the military shop CROSS ROAD.

Parking available in front of the shop. I'm not sure of the opening hours, it was closed when I visited.
It seems to be a store that mainly has American casual items such as military and work, so I want to visit next time.

In the corner of [MzCOFFEE Labo], a takeout specialty coffee shop in Karuizawa, Nagano Prefecture, we sell women's vintage and antique items in a concept space.
Since Instagram has not been updated for a while, the business status is unknown. Site link is broken.

Maison Margiela at Karuizawa Outlet "Prince Shopping Plaza"

If you like euro vintage and military, don't miss the Martin Margiela outlet.

There are several Margiela outlets across Japan. There are also sales such as 10-20% off when you buy 2 or more items.

Karuizawa's outlets also have many other brands that second-hand clothing lovers can enjoy, such as The North Face, L.L. Bean, Adidas, and Ralph Lauren.
